c. 1920 Quebec Exposition Agricole et Industrielle Medal. Charlton-Unlisted.

CA$130.00
Sold Out

Bronze. 50.5mm. 56.3g. CARON FRERES on edge. Modelled after Leroux-1477 and Charlton-EQCA-36, but struck from entirely different dies with a modified design. On the obverse, a female figure representing agriculture is shown at left holding out an olive branch over the head of a male figure representing industry. A hydroelectric dam is in the background, as is a farmer driving a plow. The reverse reads EXPOSITION / PROVINCIALE / DE / QUEBEC/ with a cartouche below for inscription.

I have not seen this medal before, nor can I find another example that has appeared at auction in recent years. Neither the Jeffrey Hoare Auctions Sale #6 (2/1988) nor the Hendler sale (6/1996) included one. It is an early 20th century product, probably c. 1920. Both sides are glossy brown and problem-free. Eye appeal is terrific.
